The Cosmic Palette
HAIZEN'S VEDIC ASTROLOGY NEWSLETTER
FOR AUGUST 2009

Dear Friends and Subscribers:
Here are the highlights of the month...

8/5: Lunar Eclipse in Sidereal Cancer/Capricorn
Important because this is a continuation of the eclipse period of July that
carries over into early August and still has some clout to stir things up in the
area of the emotions, living conditions, family matters, and the direction of
the professional life. Some of you are having to scale back and ride out a period
of uncertainty. Simplify where you can.
This cycle is a needed catalyst for necessary
completions and change. Some people may
leave your life, not as a loss but as a completion.
New ones come in. Change can be to
your definite benefit even if you're not consciously
choosing it. Life knows better than
any of us. Watch your health and level of
stress because there's more going on during
eclipse periods and some may feel overwhelmed
by these extra pressures and demands.
Reactions can be stronger than usual.
Eclipse energies are about dealing with the BIG issues of life: health, career
direction, relocations, relationships, personal security and transitional activities
in our basic circumstances of life (because the focus is on the signs of
sidereal Cancer and Capricorn…Vedic astrology uses the SIDEREAL zodiac —
the actual backdrop of the constellations, the visible sky as its frame of reference…
very powerful influences).
The eclipse period officially ends on August 8 and the energies of life begin
to calm down, become more manageable. Then you can get settled in and
stabilize the conditions related to recent changes. The calmness will feel like
a relief for those who have noticed how life has been stirred up since July.
At best, eclipses are about being awake, trusting your destiny, and enlightenment.
The effects of the eclipses last for months after they take place.
This gives you time to work out your new direction in life.

Saturn is finishing its stay in Sidereal Leo through September 9
Saturn is a bit of a taskmaster and Leo represents creativity, heart-interests
and fun. Put these two factors together and life can sometimes seem heavy
and tedious, more work than pleasure. Saturn is at the tail end of its time in
Leo — a period which started all the way back in October of 2006 — and it
will be moving
into sidereal
Virgo on September
9 and
be more comfortable
there:
Saturn does
well in
Mercury-ruled
signs.
In the meantime,
it's important
to notice
where
Saturn in Leo
is by house
position in
your vedic
horoscope and
expect some
necessary or
helpful lessons
to come your
way during
this ending cycle. (For example, if Saturn is travelling through your rising
sign, the focus has been on your self-determination and health issues for the
past 2-1/2 years, and you're about to get some kind of a report card on how
you've been doing, over the next 5 weeks.) When a major planet is about to
change its sidereal sign, it's a big deal.
At best, Saturn in Leo brings out the forcefulness of your nature, strengthens
your ability to handle responsibilities and put work before pleasure. Saturn
can also be indicative of digestive complaints, weakness of heart, some
anger and some marital incompatibility. But it can also bestow spiritual
qualities like humility and strength of will. Saturn moving into Virgo will be
an improvement. More on Saturn in the September newsletter.

7/30: Jupiter moves back in Capricorn until
December 19.
Jupiter is considered debilitated or at its weakest
in sidereal Capricorn. So this is an indication of
continuing economic woes and the need for the
current restructuring in business, finances and
ethics. According to vedic wisdom, the lessons
connected with Jupiter in Capricorn pertain to the
need for people to be beware of hypocrisy, illegal
financial dealings, immoral relationships and lack
of devotion to duty. If possible, there's also the
need to avoid being involved in unproductive businesses.
Over-idealism and inability to fulfill one's
promises may also manifest. Nevertheless, Jupiter can always provide some
type of helpful benefits regardless of the sign its in.
Wishing everyone a happy and productive August.
